Can we help

One of our primary aims is to offer support for families and individuals, and to assist quickly where our tamariki and rangatahi/ children and young people may need help.  Our vision is to empower families to create a safe and nurturing environment.

We started out as a small home-based service in Paparoa in the late 80s as part of a Government initiative to provide ‘Homebuilders’ community centres throughout the nation. In recent years the agency has had a name change and increased its capacity for services to the community and surrounding region.

The agency is made up of a team of professionals and willing volunteers overseen by the Governance Board.

We also run a food bank supported with Financial Mentoring assistance and monthly shopping trips for anyone needing transport. We run a regular community luncheon as a way to meet and engaged with others in your community, which is also an opportunity for willing volunteers to become involved.

Please contact the agency for updates and information on any of these activities.

OCS works closely and confidentially with other community agencies across most of the Kaipara district, from Tinopai in the west to Mangawhai in the east; from Dargaville in the north to Kaiwaka in the south - and everywhere in between.

Our services consist of a range of professional and general community services with male and female facilitators and counsellors.

Our staff consists of trained and experienced professionals and dedicated volunteers.

We offer:

  • One to one, couples, and family/whanau counselling
  • Parent Support offering practical guidlines from birth to teenagers.
  • Social Work with a focus on high needs.
  • Addiction support to access appropriate services.
  • Family Support to help achieve your goals.
  • Senior Support for individuals and families needing  extra help.
  • Foodbank and Financial Mentoring in conjunction with any or all of the above services.

If you are seeking support, or would just like to come and see what we are about -  call in, haere mai, we are happy to see you.
