Counselling

We offer a professional counselling service with trained counsellors focusing on abuse and trauma (both current and historical), family issues including counselling children, relationships and domestic violence. We have both male and female counsellors. A counselling session is usually one hour long, but can be extended, this is negotiable.

Fees
While we would like to offer a free counselling service, unfortunately there are considerable costs involved. These include counsellor supervision, ongoing training, materials, travel costs, and remuneration for our counsellors. It is also professionally recognized that it is desirable for clients to make some contribution towards the cost of their counselling.

The cost per client session is $20, this is payable to either counsellor or OCS reception before each counselling session. This fee is subsidized and whilst nominal we appreciate for some even this may be difficult to afford. Please talk to your counsellor if you are finding payment difficult to discuss options.

WINZ contracted client costs pay the total cost of $60 per client session. You will need to fill out a form allowing the money to be direct credited to your counsellors nominated bank account.

Cancellations
If you are unable to keep your appointment, it is essential that you notify us within 48 hours prior to your session time. Missed appointments will be charged at 50% of your appointment fee (except in cases of medical emergency, family death etc). Missed appointments with no contact to the centre will be charged at the full rate.

Confidentiality
Our counsellors record only information that is factual and helpful for clients. We do not disclose client information without client permission except when we believe a person is at risk of harming self or others, or when required by law, or during professional supervision (Refer Privacy Act 1993, principle 11).

Complaints
If you are not satisfied with the service you receive from any staff member of this agency please discuss this with them. They want and need to know. If you have any serious concerns regarding the standard of service you have received from Otamatea Community Services you have the right to make a formal complaint to the Chairperson. Our Reception will give you the necessary form to assist you.

General
Counselling is an ongoing process and outcomes may bring unexpected changes. If you have any concerns please feel free to discuss this with us.
