VOLUNTEERING

We have a team of willing people who offer their help in various ways.   Once a month OCS provides a two-course luncheon for the senior residents of the community, and this is prepared and served by a great local group with the help of volunteers who gladly offer their time and skills. Most months we have some form of entertainment for them and this also is provided voluntarily.  Another monthly event is our ever-popular chocolate bingo where anyone can come and play bingo with the promise of winning a chocolate or two.  This is a much-loved happy occasion for quite a good-sized group and run by a volunteer. Our Parent Coach and Financial Mentor sometimes take little gifts to families in the form of knitted dolls, and stuffed animals which are all hand-made by a local resident and donated.  A large service organisation gifts packs for new-born babies, and a local club donates beautiful quilts. We have individual local members of the community who bring in their home-grown produce, and another organisation who has a community garden, staffed by volunteers, and who brings their surplus vegetables to us for distribution to those in need.  We welcome any offers of help either with your time or skills so you too can be a part of this agency. Our volunteers are highly appreciated.

FOOD BANK

Food parcels are for when unforeseen circumstances make life difficult. Whether you had an unexpected bill to pay, extra mouths to feed over the school holidays, seasonal work has finished or your budget didn't stretch this week, whatever the reason we are here to help you. Come visit us and speak to one of our friendly staff who will take your contact details and provide you with a food parcel. Your details will then be given to our Financial Mentor, who will contact you following receipt of your food parcel to discuss your budget needs.

If you have surplus produce or excess food items you wish to donate to our food bank, we would be most grateful to receive and distribute to needy families.

DONATE

The vision of Otamatea Community Services Incorporated is to empower families to create a safe nurturing environment. Currently we service around 300+ families each year. Either through our Food Bank and Financial Mentoring, Parent Coaching, Counselling,or Monthly Seniors Lunch and Chocolate Bingo or even just by offering a safe friendly place for those in our wonderful rural communities, who find themselves isolated or in need. We work hard raising funds from all over to ensure those most vulnerable in our community have their most basic of needs met with the love, care and dignity they deserve. If you would consider supporting all that we do your giving will be warmly received and greatly appreciated.

If you would like to support one of the needs in the community in particular, please place one of the following into the particulars when you make your donation, and we will ensure your money goes to where you want it to go.
